Questions? I've got answers.
Starting therapy brings up a lot of questions. Here are the ones I hear most often. If yours isn't here, reach out and ask.
Therapy is a space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges in a supportive environment. It can help you:
• Gain a deeper understanding of yourself
• Navigate life’s transitions and stressors
• Process difficult emotions and past experiences
• Develop coping strategies for anxiety, depression, and more
• Reconnect with parts of yourself that may feel lost
In your first therapy session, we’ll explore your reasons for seeking support, discuss your personal history, and set treatment goals. It’s also a great time to ask any questions about the process and share your expectations.
Individual Therapy: 55 min session = $160
Accelerated Resolution Therapy : $160
I am in-network with Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield. I am an out-of-network prrovider for all other insurance companies. Clients can use of out-of-network benefits, which many don’t know they have! Many people with PPO insurance plans have out-of-network benefits and can get reimbursed by their insurance anywhere from 60-80% of the session rate once their out-of-network deductible is met. Please call to ask more about this!
In some cases, you are eligible to use out-of-network benefits to obtain reimbursement for therapy sessions. You are responsible for paying for each session in full at the time of the appointment.
Usually, if you have out-of-network benefits, insurance plans will reimburse you for 60-80% of the therapy session cost.
If you decide to submit your own out-of-network claims, I can provide a superbly to you, which you will upload online to your insurance company. Once they receive this, they will mail you a check for reimbursement.
I encourage you to call the number on the back of your health insurance card listed under Member Services.
You can ask them the following questions:
• Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health coverage? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?
• What is my out-of-network deductible?
• How much of my deductible has been met this year?
• Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?
• What percentage of outpatient psychotherapy sessions are covered per session?
• How much will I be reimbursed for a 53-minute psychotherapy session (CPT code: 90837)?
• How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?
• How long does it take for me to receive reimbursement?
A card will be required to have on file. I will charge it after our session. I accept credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.
I require a 24-hour notice for cancellations or no-shows. The cancellation fee is the cost of the session, which will be charged to the credit card on file. If we can reschedule within the same week, I won't charge the fee. Communication is always appreciated!
To prepare for your therapy session, consider what you want to discuss and any goals you have. Writing down your thoughts or feelings that you want to explore can also be very helpful.
The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. Typically, clients start with weekly sessions and may adjust the frequency as they progress.
Due to licensing regulations, I can only work with clients in Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Delaware. If you live outside these states, I'm happy to refer you to another therapist in your area.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to ensure your needs and goals align with my services. If we aren't a good fit, I'll refer you to another therapist who might be better suited to your needs.
After we decide that we are a good fit, we will schedule our first therapy appointment together. I will send over a few forms for you to fill out before our first therapy session.
I meet with most of my clients on a weekly or biweekly basis. Depending on your individualized goals, I would recommend that we start meeting weekly or biweekly. This allows us to get started on your individualized goals in order to see progress quicker.
Over time, we will collaboratively decide whether to increase or decrease the frequency of your sessions depending on your individualized goals.
I am a solutions-focused therapist, which means that I want to teach you the skills and techniques necessary to work on your goals. This likely means that you don’t have to be in therapy forever. Some of my clients have met their goals in a few months and don’t need therapy anymore.
Some of my clients choose to remain in therapy for much longer due to their individualized goals. Some clients have longer term goals that take more time to achieve. Some clients really enjoy the support that therapy gives them and look forward to having a safe place to process their thoughts and emotions.
